The Wounaan of the Darien Jungle
Need our help!

Irma Cabezon Lisa Law

Lisa Law & Irma Cabezon, a Wounaan basket weaver , and mother of five.

On July 11, 2005 I went to a fundraiser to bring attention to the Wounaan people and was blown away with the problems they face in Panama. Again, the indigenous peoples are not being recognized by their own government and their lands in the rain forest are being taken from them, burnt, and these perpetrators are planting grass to graze cattle for burgers. The livelihood of these people depend on their ability to defend themselves at the government level.

Baskets

It can take two months to make one basket.

By purchasing a basket or donating to this group of Wounaan of the Darien Jungle you can help them realize their dreams to create a sustainable lifestyle.
